May 18, 2005 - Article Voted Affirmative At C-O-MM Annual Meeting!!!
The citizens of the C-O-MM Fire District demonstrated their civic fortitude and were successful in getting the $375,000 appropriation for the Archibald parcels approved at the Annual Meeting. The Article passed 203 to 54 and easily met the 2/3 majority that was required.
This is a critical first step in the preservation and rehabilitation of Mill Pond and gives the Committee the momentum it needs to move onto the next phases.
The Mill Pond Preservation Committee thanks all of the voters who gave up their personal time to get us past this very important milestone. We are also indebted to all of those who worked with the Committee to get the word out.
A very big THANK YOU to all of you!!

April 23, 2005 - IPA Board Supports Mill Pond Initiative
The Indian Ponds Association [IPA] Board Of Directors has announced its support for the Mill Pond Preservation Committee's efforts to protect our water supply and Mill Pond.
In a story in their upcoming Spring 2005 The IPA Newsletter, "The IPA Board of Directors strongly encourages all Town of Barnstable registered voters living in the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills (COMM) Fire/Water District to support a grass-roots initiative by the Mill Pond Preservation Committee..."
Emory D. Anderson, PhD, president of the IPA said in his e-mail to the board: "Both Geri and I feel that what the Committee is trying to do (conserve land, preserve and improve water quality, and prevent further housing development on land in close proximity to the Marstons Mills River and Mill Pond) is consistent with the IPA's mission."
"Even though this parcel of land is technically outside of the IPA area, it is close enough to be of interest to us. We feel his [Kevin Galvin's] request for assistance in helping to publicize this important vote is not unreasonable and is something that we can and should do to assist a like-minded group."
